In Sardinia, a man hid his dead mother’s body in a freezer for years in order to continue receiving her pension. The woman is said to have died of natural causes.
During a search of his home, the carabinieri discovered the body of the 78-year-old woman in a freezer on the ground floor of the apartment. The 54-year-old man from Sarroch has now been charged with concealing a corpse and aggravating fraud to the detriment of the state.
According to initial findings, the body had been there for over two years, possibly since the time of the corona pandemic.
Autopsy ordered
When the carabinieri of Sarroch, near the capital Cagliari, discovered the body, it was completely covered in a thick layer of ice. An autopsy is now being carried out on the remains at the hospital in Cagliari.
