Boy in custody – perpetrator (14) threatened to kill Viennese politician

Date:

Another shock for a young IS fanatic: a boy from Lower Austria is said to have called for violence against non-believers online. Apparently, the target was also a Viennese city politician. The student, who comes from a well-integrated family, was arrested following information from Germany.

On Tuesday, police reports of a raid on three IS suspects (16, 17 and 19 years old) who were said to have distributed IS propaganda material in the Tulln district caused a stir. They remained at large.

Another highly explosive case, also taking place in Lower Austria, was not communicated to the outside world in an insulting manner. As the “Krone” heard, a boy was arrested from his childhood bedroom at the end of July and taken into custody in the Korneuburg Justice Center. Again, after a tip from Germany.

Danger of committing and carrying out the crime
But it was not messenger services that brought him to light, but the daily internet monitoring in our neighboring country, where the boy’s TikTok and Instagram profiles were noticed. On August 8, the pre-trial detention of the 14-year-old Austrian with Afghan roots was extended by one month: due to the risk of committing and executing the crime.

This case is also about ISIS terror!

The Korneuburg Public Prosecutor’s Office confirms that the student is in prison for a terrorist organization and dangerous threats in connection with the weapons law: “He shared messages on the Internet with various accounts that glorified IS. Videos were found of IS attacks and flags, but also calls for violence against people of other faiths,” the StA spokesperson explains.

But a concrete threat has been leaked. Accordingly, the investigators found a photo on the boy’s smartphone showing three people with red-rimmed heads. One of them is a Viennese city politician. A gun can be seen and a call to murder can be read. The suspect, born in 2009, says he only forwarded this photo. He doesn’t even know the politician.

Smartphone ban upon release from custody…
In prison, the boy crosses the line: “I’ve been going to prison for interviews for 38 years. But for the first time, I feel like I’m actually in front of a child. Both physically and mentally,” says the lawyer, who will fight for his client’s release at the next hearing.

However, waiting for a possible trial in freedom should be subject to conditions – such as a ban on smartphones and the internet, but also probation assistance and deradicalisation.
