Hamas Threatens Israel: “Hostages Returned to Families in Coffins”

Date:

Nearly eleven months after the massive Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 97 hostages are still being held by Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups, according to Israeli information. 33 of them are therefore presumed dead. Hamas threatens that they will return to their families “in coffins” if Israel continues to exert military pressure.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “perseverance” means “they will return to their families in coffins,” Abu Obeida, spokesman for Hamas’s armed wing, the Izzedin al-Qassam Brigades, said Monday.

New instructions have been given to the hostages in case Israeli soldiers approach their location, he added.

On Sunday, Israeli authorities announced the deaths of six hostages found on Saturday in a tunnel near Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, the four men and two women “were killed by Hamas terrorists with multiple shots fired at close range,” according to an autopsy “approximately 48 to 72 hours” before the forensic examination on Sunday.

On Monday night, Netanyahu asked for “forgiveness” for not rescuing the hostages, but he wants to remain tough in the ceasefire negotiations.
