Witness raised alarm – German survived 60-meter fall from rocky gully

A hike in the Lechtal Alps turned fatal for a German woman (54) on Wednesday. She tripped during the descent and fell through a rocky gully. A hiker who saw the accident immediately raised the alarm.

On Wednesday, a 54-year-old German went on a mountain hike to the Grubigstein (2233 meters) in the municipality of Biberwier.

At around 11:10 the woman was descending from the pre-summit of Grubigstein and for unknown reasons tripped and fell about 50-60 meters down a gully, leaving her seriously injured.

A hiker who saw the accident then called the emergency number. The German was first treated at the scene of the accident by the medical emergency helicopter “RK2” and then rescued with the help of a cable winch. She was then flown to the Murnau hospital (Germany).
