Chinese smartphone brand Vivo is selling a new ‘people’s phone’ in Austria – at least according to its own estimation, the V40 is not really a bargain with a price tag of around 500 euros. Compared to the higher class, which now costs well over 1,000 euros, it is affordable – and equipped with features that not everyone has.
The V40 5G – not to be confused with the cheaper entry-level V40 SE – places a big emphasis on the camera and for the first time, an upper mid-range device has a Zeiss-branded camera including a specially adapted camera app. Previously, this was reserved for Vivo’s high-end X-series devices. Also rare in the €500 price range: an IP68 specification, which guarantees that the device is dust and to some extent water resistant. The design also goes a long way towards making you stand out from the crowd – but is that enough? Krone+ has the test.
