Rapid Attack Plans – German Police Arrest 15-Year-Old Student

German police have arrested a 15-year-old student in Frankfurt an der Oder in the state of Brandenburg in connection with foiled plans to attack a concert by American superstar Taylor Swift in Vienna. He is said to have advised the thwarted suspected terrorist Beran A. (19).

As was only announced on Friday, investigators from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) searched an apartment in a prefabricated building in Frankfurt an der Oder on Wednesday where the 15-year-old Syrian lives with his parents and three siblings.

German emergency services have seized data carriers, computers and a mobile phone, German media report. The federal prosecutor’s office in Karlsruhe confirmed a house search. According to the German federal prosecutor’s office, it is suspected of “promoting a terrorist organization”.

Tip from Austrian researchers
The tip came from Austrian investigators who searched the private and digital network of main suspect A. after the arrest, the newspaper ‘Bild’ reports. They came across the man from Frankfurt an der Oder.

The 15-year-old is said to have exchanged information with 19-year-old suspect Beran A. via an encrypted courier service about possible attack targets, the choice of weapons and the production of explosives, according to “Bild”.
