On Saturday afternoon, a 43-year-old from Salzburg fell into a crevasse in the Hohe Riffl area in Uttendorf at 2,800 meters above sea level. He called his wife on his mobile phone, which prompted a large search operation.
Stuck in a crevasse covered in debris, the local man was unable to free himself. Fortunately, the 43-year-old was able to contact his wife, who was not involved in the rock search, via mobile phone.
She alerted the police. The accident site was narrowed down via the Red Cross control centre. The first troops of the mountain rescue service ‘Enzingerboden’ were flown to the accident site by emergency medical helicopter.
Additional emergency services were deployed with a police helicopter. The man was rescued and flown to the Tauern Clinic in Zell with injuries of unknown nature.
