A fight at a highway rest area had escalated to bloody proportions: a 55-year-old Ukrainian had severely cut a 46-year-old compatriot with a knife. Just a few hours later, there was a fight in Timelkam in which a 28-year-old Georgian was injured. The search for the perpetrators is underway.
A dispute between two Ukrainian citizens aged 55 and 46 got completely out of hand at the Ansfelden-Süd rest area on Saturday around 20:15. The 55-year-old inflicted serious cuts on the face and arm of the 46-year-old opponent with a knife. The reason for the dispute is currently unknown.
Photo identification possible
The injured 46-year-old received first aid from a SIG patrol and the Red Cross and was taken to hospital. A witness was able to photograph the 55-year-old during the altercation, which allowed him to be clearly identified as a suspect.
There was a lot of alcohol involved
He disposed of the murder weapon in an unknown manner and it has not been found. The 55-year-old was arrested by a SIG patrol and taken to the Linz police detention center. All involved were noticeably drunk. The investigation is ongoing.
The perpetrators fled the restaurant
Just a few hours later, another act of violence took place in Timelkam: at 01:15, for unknown reasons, a fight took place in front of a bar between a 28-year-old Georgian, a 30-year-old and two other people involved. When several patrols arrived, initially only the injured 28-year-old and a witness could be found.
There was also video evidence there
Since there is also a video recording of this altercation, it could be established beyond any doubt that three people kicked the 28-year-old while he was lying on the ground. The still unknown injured person was taken to the hospital. Two other uninvolved people were injured in this altercation and received first aid from the rescue team. An immediate search for the perpetrators initially went negative – investigations and interviews are ongoing.
