Five weeks after the dramatic dog attack in southern Styria, the victim, who almost lost a thumb, met the dog “Xena” again. Susanne S. wanted to overcome her fear – and was surprised at how the animal had changed.
In early August, a dramatic dog attack took place in Tillmitsch in southern Styria: Susanne S., who had just come home from jogging, was suddenly attacked by a neighbor’s Staffordshire terrier and seriously injured.
Her thumb was even bitten off – fortunately it could be sewn back on at the LKH Graz.
The dog “Xena” had to leave her previous home after this incident and has been staying with dog expert Georg Resch in Hartberg for several weeks – and there was a surprising reunion today. The bite victim traveled to East Styria to overcome her fear of dogs.
“The fault usually lies with the owner”
There was even a walk together with “Xena”. The dog actually behaved completely inconspicuously and well-behaved – much to the surprise of Mrs. S., who previously experienced the animal as aggressive. Resch in an interview with the “Krone”: “This shows that the blame in such incidents usually lies with the owner and not with the animal!”
