Ukraine strikes back – Moscow skyscrapers burn after drone attack

Date:

According to Russian information, Ukraine allegedly carried out an attack on Russia with more than 140 drones on Tuesday night. In Moscow, according to Governor Andrei Vorobyov, at least two high-rise buildings in the Ramenskoye district were damaged and fires broke out in five apartments.

The attacks killed a 46-year-old woman and injured three other people, and forced 43 residents to move to emergency shelters.

Air traffic is disrupted
Air traffic at Moscow’s Domodedovo, Zhukovsky and Vnukovo airports was suspended for more than six hours after the drone attacks to ensure safety. The all-clear was given around 08:00 (07:00 CEST). Operations at the capital’s largest airport, Sheremetyevo, continued uninterrupted.

At least fifteen drones have been shot down
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Telegram that at least 15 drones had been shot down in the vicinity of the capital. Emergency services were deployed to several locations in the region.

In the Tula region, which borders Moscow region to the north, a destroyed drone also fell on a “power plant,” media reported, citing authorities. However, “technological processes” were not interrupted. There were no injuries and the situation is under control. According to a TASS report, two people died in a fire in an oil pipeline in Russia’s Orenburg region.

Drone attacks on Kiev repelled
Ukrainian air defense units are now reporting Russian drone attacks – for example on the capital Kiev. In total, at least three people were injured in Russian drone and missile attacks on the country. Buildings were damaged and fires broke out.

Air defenses shot down 38 of 46 Russian drones over 13 regions during the night raid. Power systems were attacked and there were disruptions to power lines and substations.

Russian National Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu stressed on Tuesday that Russia has captured 1,000 square meters in Donbas since August. Ukraine’s advance toward Russia has not achieved its goal.
