Actually, the frogmen of the fire brigade only wanted to train in the icy and pitch-black water of the Mühlviertel – and that became an operation. A swimmer had sunk his expensive watch and while they were looking for it, the helpers also found several other sunken ‘treasures’.
“My Apple Watch sank” When two divers from the Aschach an der Donau fire brigade were practicing in the “Resilacke” in Kleinzell, they were called to help by a young swimmer. The expensive smartwatch slipped from his hand and sank into the flooded granite quarry, which was about 20 meters deep.
15.5 meters, ten degrees
The two divers sank to the bottom at a depth of 15.5 meters on site, scanned the muddy bottom in almost complete darkness with a water temperature of only ten degrees – and came across unwanted “treasures” – three diving goggles and a Samsung Watch before they actually felt the black Apple Watch.
While the watch had long since been submerged in the water, the smartwatch was still running. “The owner couldn’t believe his luck,” the firefighters said.
