Nick Mussbacher heard two extreme lightning strikes late Friday afternoon. The Lustenauer, a funeral director by profession and a firefighter in his spare time, checked the situation together with his neighbors. As a result, not only the strike but also a hidden fire was noticed in time.
The light smoke on the roof of the neighboring house seemed suspicious to Nick Mussbacher. “At first I thought the smoke could be coming from a stove,” says Florianijünger from Lustenau. But when more and more smoke rose, he left the heating system and ran to the neighboring house.
The residents were able to be brought to safety in time and unharmed. The colleagues of the fire brigade who were alerted at the same time, took care of the rest.
The fire was barely visible and apparently spread between the roof tiles after the lightning strike, the rescue workers reported a little later. The quick action of the undertaker and colleagues prevented major damage. After the extinguishing work was completed, the residents were able to return to their homes.
