Shots were fired Sunday near Trump National Golf Club, a private golf club owned by former US President Donald Trump in Jupiter, Florida, as the Republican was leaving, the New York Post reported.
The Secret Service responded to a shooting near Trump, police sources said. “Trump is safe after shots were fired near him. There are no further details at this time,” his spokesman Steven Cheung said Sunday afternoon.
According to the New York Post, Trump was never in danger. The shooting occurred in an area outside the golf club known for its high crime rates, they said.
The incident came almost exactly two months after assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump and injured his ear at a rally in Butler on July 13.
