The Defense Minister explains that their operations are focused on the north, although they do not forget the kidnapped in Gaza. Meanwhile, Netanyahu confirms that they will take the necessary security measures for the return to their homes of civilians evacuated in the north.
The Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galanthas reiterated that “the center of gravity” of its operations is increasingly on the northern border, and has spoken of a “new phase of the war”, without commenting on the explosions of communications equipment in Lebanon in recent days.
“I believe that we are at the beginning of a new phase in this war, and we must adapt. We must be consistent over time, this war requires great courage, determination and perseverance,” Minister Gallant said. Regarding Israeli objectives in the north, Gallant noted that they are “clear and simple,” and pointed directly to the safe return of the thousands of civilians evacuated across the border by Hezbollah attacks.
However, Gallant has claimed that the Israeli authorities have not forgotten the hostages captured by Hamas in Gaza, nor the situation in the south. “We have not forgotten the hostages and we have not forgotten our duties in the south. This is our duty and we are fulfilling it at the same time,” the defense minister stressed.
For his part, the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Herzi Halevihas stated that Israel is “very well prepared.” “The rule is that every time we reach a certain stage, we have already prepared ourselves to make strong progress in the next two steps. In each of these stages, the costs for Hezbollah should be high,” he concluded.
On the other hand, the Israeli Prime Minister has Benjamin Netanyahutook the opportunity to stress that his government will ensure that civilians evacuated in the north of the country return to their homes. “I have already said that we will return the residents of the north safely to their homes and that is exactly what we will do,” he said.
