Zelenskyi: “Difficult situation”
The goal of Russian troops at the moment is of course to capture the city of Pokrovsk, which is logistically important for Ukraine, the loss of which would be a heavy blow to Kiev. President Volodymyr Zelenskyi spoke on Friday of a “very difficult” situation on the front in eastern Ukraine.
Moscow managed to recapture areas in Kursk
In order to relieve the pressure on troops at home, the Ukrainian army surprisingly launched an attack on the Russian border region of Kursk in early August. According to Kiev, more than a thousand square kilometers of Russian territory were captured. However, according to both sides, the Russian army recently launched a counteroffensive in the region.
