Passerby as savior – woman jumped into raging stream after her dog

Date:

A 60-year-old hiker may have prevented a tragedy in Ebbs (Tyrolean district of Kufstein) on Wednesday: a 58-year-old dog owner jumped into a raging, cold stream after her animal and was unable to get out on her own.

The 58-year-old local woman was walking her dog along the Eaboch in Ebbs on Wednesday evening when the dog lost his tennis ball and rolled into the stream. The dog jumped after him, whereupon his wife followed him into the raging, cold stream, which had swelled to a depth of about 2.5 metres due to the rain of the past few days.

The woman could not resist the water and was repeatedly pushed under the surface. An observant passerby finally noticed her and rushed to her aid. The 60-year-old managed to drag the woman to the bank.

Those involved were very lucky
Paramedics and a first responder treated the severely hypothermic woman and took her to the district hospital in Kufstein. The Austrian was able to leave again on Thursday. She, her rescuer and her dog remained unharmed.
