Serious hiking accident on Saturday afternoon at the Achensee in Tyrol! A local woman (52) tripped in a gravel gully and fell. The woman hit her head on a stone and was unconscious for a short time.

The 52-year-old was walking on Saturday afternoon, accompanied by a 58-year-old man, on the marked hiking trail from the Gaisalm towards Pertisau (municipality of Eben am Achensee) when, through no fault of her own, she noticed that she stumbled in the area of ​​the large gravel channel shortly before 2:30 p.m. (Breitlahngraben), fell and hit his head on a stone.

Flown to hospital with head injuries
“The victim was unconscious for a short time. Her companion and other hikers provided first aid and called 911,” the police said. The 52-year-old was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by the medical emergency helicopter “Heli 4” with significant head injuries.

Fell ten meters into the creek bed
In St. Ulrich am Pillersee (Kitzbühel district), a hike for a 63-year-old Dutchman also ended in hospital on Saturday. The man was on his way with his son and someone else from the church of St. Ulrich am Pillersee towards Winterstelleralm. Because the hiking trail was covered in snow, the three of them had to turn back after a while. “During the descent in the Kalktal, the 63-year-old fell from the gravel hiking trail about ten meters over rocky terrain into a ravine around 12:15 through no fault of his own and remained injured in the stream bed,” the police explained.

His son called the emergency number. The accident victim was then rescued by the crew of the medical emergency helicopter “C4” and flown to the hospital in St. Johann in Tirol. There, a broken elbow, bruises and abrasions were diagnosed.
