Four people killed and dozens injured in Alabama shooting

Police have said that “multiple shooters” opened fire on a group of people in the US city of Birmingham around 23:00 (local time), without the cause of the event being clear for now. They do not rule out that more people may be killed.

At least four people have been killed and several dozen injured shooting recorded late Saturday in the US city of Birminghamin the state of Alabama (southeast), without the causes of the event being clear yet.

Birmingham police confirmed this on their social network account “several people were shot” and has suggested that “it is possible that there could be multiple deaths,” without providing further details.

Truman Fitzgerald, of the local police, subsequently pointed this out “several gunmen” opened fire against a group of people around 11:00 p.m. (local time) and confirmed that at least four people were killed.

“That’s so dozens of gunshot wounds in the area,” he said, as reported by US television network CNN. “They tell me that at least four of them have injuries that put their lives in danger,” he added.

He also stressed that the authorities have opened an investigation, without any arrests being made for the time being. “We will do everything possible to clarify, identify and arrest those responsible for the attack on our people,” he concluded.

The event is rising 403 is the number of mass shootings recorded so far this year in the United States, according to the Gun Violence Archive’s count, which defines one of these events as one in which a shooting leaves at least four victims, not including the person responsible for the attack.
