The melting of the ice giants does not only bring disadvantages for farmers in the Alps. The warmer weather causes the vegetation to move further up. The 90 cattle of the Entleitner family now graze in meadows that were covered with snow twenty years ago in Fusch on the Großglocknerstrasse.
The Entleitner family has been running the “Bauernalm” above Fusch on the Glocknerstrasse in Ferleiten for three generations. The alpine hut is almost in the shadow of the Salzburg glaciers. The ice giants are omnipresent in everyday life on the mountain pasture. The Walcher Kees below the Hoher Tenn feeds the Walcherbach, which forms a huge waterfall a short distance above the alpine hut. Only in winter does it become quiet here and the water is never empty. The Fuscher-Kar-Kees can be seen from the alpine hut.
