It will cover more than 75,000 people and has an investment of 1.4 million euros. This new plant will allow an increase in activity of 15% compared to the previous equipment and will make it impossible to cross the clean-dirty circuits.
Since this Monday, Osakidetza has launched an innovative sterilization center at the Mendaro Hospital (Gipuzkoa). With an investment of 1.4 million euros, it represents a technological evolution of the facility that will offer “greater care and job security”, as well as “greater economic efficiency and environmental protection”.
All sterilization processes are centralized in this unit, “which is the only way to certify a product as ‘sterile’ after processing in accordance with European and international regulations,” as explained by the Basque Health Service.
The new facilities that the Mendaro Hospital now has are equipped with the latest developments that will allow a 15% increase in activity compared to the previous equipment and will make it impossible to cross the clean-dirty circuits.
The new sterilisation centre will include the Mendaro and Eibar hospitals, the Eibar polyclinic, the Elgoibar, Torrekua, Deba and Ermua health centres and the Itziar, Mendaro, Soraluce, Mallabia and Mutriku offices; this will have an impact on the quality of care for a population of over 75,000 people.
