New research confirms: crystal-clear commitment to solar energy

Date:

Our eco-offensive is getting a huge boost from a new survey!

Not a single electrical device is on standby in Peter Filzmaier’s small office in the center of Vienna! On the contrary: only after some tinkering can the coffee machine be started during the “Krone” interview! “That should be the case. “I want to make my contribution to the energy transition,” smiles the country’s sympathetic pollster.

Green light for electricity from local eco sources
Hot off the press, perhaps the most thorough eco-research to date is on the table. A total of 1,000 Burgenlanders and another 500 outside this state were questioned by the renowned Institute for Strategy Analyzes (ISA) about their opinions on energy. And the result is crystal clear and couldn’t be clearer. Because 53 percent consider it “very important” that electricity comes from renewable energy sources in Austria. “Energy supply and renewable energy are important for almost 90 percent of people in Austria. “More than two-thirds also think about the energy supply and especially about what independence looks like in Austria and in their own state,” Filzmaier explains.

According to his careful fieldwork, photovoltaic systems are the most recognized. It is also required that these be located not only on houses, but also on open spaces and public buildings to meet the demand. Further persuasion work needs to be done and, above all, more commitment is expected from the communities. 94 percent of citizens in Burgenland contacted by Filzmaier’s team emphasize the importance of relying on rooftop “solar power plants” in the further expansion of renewable energy sources. Across Austria this is at least an impressive 89%. When using wind this is 85 and 77% respectively.

Independent of rising electricity prices and future-oriented
For Dr. Sharma – now an internationally recognized eco-pioneer and visionary who is rethinking energy supply at all levels – the main reason for choosing PV is considered: “both the independence from rising electricity prices, but also the future-oriented, environmentally friendly technology! ” But the reliability of the system is also appreciated by the Company. The head of Burgenland Energie, based in Eisenstadt, also sees the incentive for customers to be able to use the self-generated electricity with a complete range (PV, storage, heat pump, etc. ) Important starting point: 60% of people in Burgenland (47% in total) consider it “very important” to save energy in their daily lives.

Filzmaier, in turn, clarifies: “This environmental idea talks about turning off the lights when leaving the room. But the priority is on standby for devices – there’s a lot more to do here. By the way, 30 percent of consumption can be saved in this sector.” Sharma’s summary after this intensive ISA eco-research: “We feel confirmed as Krone Sonne and feel a huge tailwind for our gentle eco-revolution – from the Neusiedler Lake to Lake Constance.

Of course we turned off the coffee machine when we left the office…
