A glimmer of hope for flood victims! A family wins the second attempt at a krone hit – and a rescued pregnant woman becomes a mother.
It is these small miracles that give people the strength to continue after the great flood. There is the Nekham family from Würmla (Lower Austria). Opposite neighbors of an 81-year-old who tragically drowned in her home with her beloved dog.
Incorrect recordings will initially cost 10,000 euros
The Nekhams’ home in the quiet settlement was also completely destroyed; the couple, who ran an online advertising agency, had to temporarily move in with the woman’s mother, their daughter (10), son (8) and three dogs. Last Monday, in the midst of the disaster, Marina Nekham received a mobile phone call from a blocked number.
She thinks the pensioner, who is already dead at this point, is on the phone: “Is everything actually okay?” And don’t say the winning line of the radio contest: “I listen to crown hit, the most music!” That means 10,000 euros are gone. “Then I broke down and just cried. My husband calmed me down and said: ‘Don’t worry, we can’t do anything anymore.'”
But on Monday the happy ending came with the second phone call. “We can really use every penny,” says Marina Nekham (36) overwhelmed.
After the rescue flight from the flood, joy over baby Noah
The Schimmer family from Judenau, also in Lower Austria, is also overjoyed. The heavily pregnant Melissa had to be rescued from the flood in a Christophorus helicopter and flown to Tulln Hospital.
With the telling name Noah, the baby was born six weeks premature, but still healthy.
