On Tuesday, motocross star Matthias Walkner was a guest in Linz to celebrate the company’s tenth anniversary with long-time partner Quabus. In conversation with the “Krone”, the athlete, who suffered a serious fall in December, took the time to talk about progress, his first bike ride and the influence of Marcel Hirscher.
“Crown”: The most important question first: how are you doing right now?
Matthias Walkner: The rehabilitation in Tobelbad (Styria, note) is over, I have been there for more than half a year. I will now continue the further therapy at home in the Red Bull athletics center. But everyday life is starting to resemble everyday life more and more; I can now walk relatively well without crutches. The direction is good, but it takes a long time for the large bone defect and the structure to get used to the daily stress again. However, I notice that it gets a few percent better every ten days.
