SATSE, ELA, LAB, CC. OO. UGT and ESK they have branded “extremely serious” the statements by Health Minister Gotzone Sagardui on June 8, in which she suggested that a “cultural change” would be needed in public health to adapt to reality; including a conditioned reality and, according to the care provider, due to the “lack of professionals”.

Said unions today, at a joint press conference hosted in Bilbao, appreciated the minister’s words, which, in her words, make clear “the unequivocal will to dismantle Making primary care and the rest of the care precarious.” According to the unions, “the counselor has spoken out and explained with absolute clarity that the clinics will be closed; that some will be cared for exclusively by nurses; whereas the specialization of hospitals will be further explored, or in other words, current services will be discontinued and offered in a single hospital throughout the Basque Country; and that citizens will increasingly have to move.”

Likewise, they have criticized the statements of the lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu during the monitoring session last Friday in the Basque Parliament, in which he assured that his Executive went on to “extend, refresh and consolidate templates” However, according to the unions, the Lehendakari has “failed to tell the truth again” and they assure that: the plan is to “precarize, overload and economize” They point out that “Osakidetza is going to close health centers for one more summer; it will limit the hours of others; it will not replace the vacations of many professionals; it will overload even more the workers who provide services during that period; and it will the care provided to citizens are precarious”. They also emphasize that “Osakidetza has increased the reduction of hours even in health centers where staff had agreed to cover the shift in full hours, without the need to cut.”

Precisely for the purpose of exposing the time savings in primary health care centers, on Wednesday the 22nd at 5 pm they will hold concentrations and bull runs at the Salburua Health Center, in Gasteiz; at the Amara Prim health center, in Donostia; and at the Deusto Health Center in Bilbao.

They believe that the ultimate lack of staff the executive has resorted to is “the product of its political decisions” and a response to its “lack of will to strengthen and invest in public health.”

They have also denounced that the government has “no desire to take steps to end temporary work” as, as they indicate, with the stabilization OPE in Osakidetza, the percentage of temporary workers will remain at 50% through 3,700 places to offer, while Osakidetza did. 24,600 workers and temporary workers.

For all these reasons they have again a telephone call “both the staff and all citizens” to participate in the manifestation convened for next Sunday at noon in Bilbao.
