Beitia has been following the path of Hurricane Milton from his home in the Florida city. As he admitted, “everything is moving here”, but it seems that the cyclone has arrived weakened.
“We are without power, but I have not seen anyone injured,” he summarized from his personal experience: the passage of Hurricane Milton Through tamper (Florida, USA) Patxi Beitiaa Basque national living in the city on the US west coast. The cyclone made landfall at dawn with maximum sustained winds of up to 193 km/h (Category 3), although it lost intensity as it passed through the state.
During an interview in Euskadi Irratia, Beitia explained that he has remained in his house as he has not been evacuated. “We have no light, it is night, tomorrow morning we will see the consequences,” he warned. According to Beitia “everything moves here”and indicated that it had rained “a lot” and that the wind was blowing “very strongly”. “I heard about a neighbor’s tree falling into his pool,” he says.
The Basque citizen reported that he had been “waiting” for hours and “preparing for the worst”, although in the end it appeared that the hurricane had arrived weakened. When asked if he had considered leaving his home, Beitia indicated he was more concerned about “leaving than staying here.”
