Christof Bitschi – “My motto is: headwind cools the engine!”

Date:

Top candidates in an interview: After ten years of opposition, FPÖ state leader Christof Bitschi is pushing for the government bench. He mentions three points from which he does not want to shy away from a coalition with the ÖVP.

“Kron”: Mr Bitschi, two weeks after the FPÖ’s historic second-best result in the National Council elections in Vorarlberg, you and your party are going to the state elections. Are you now aiming for number one in the country?
Christof Bitschi: The fact is that we were 30 percent behind the ÖVP in the 2019 elections and we were never closer than 17 percent to the ÖVP in state elections. In the elections for the National Council this was now two percent. This shows that we are clearly addressing the issues that matter most to people. The big difference between us and other parties is that we do not tell people how to live, what to have for breakfast and what is good and what is bad. Instead, we are simply trying to implement what we see as a mandate from the voters. Our big goal now is to vote out the black-green coalition and take a leading role.
