A trailer loaded with chocolate bars caught fire on Saturday morning on Vienna’s outer ring road (A21) near Brunn am gebirge (Mödling district in Lower Austria). When the fire brigade arrived, the flames had already spread to the cargo.
According to the fire service, the driver reacted exemplary and disconnected his towing vehicle from the trailer. The truck was parked just before the exit to the Campus 21 business park.

To fight the fire with respiratory protection, several foam tubes were used and a large tank fire engine was also used. To extinguish the embers and prevent them from flaring up again, some of the panels had to be unloaded from the refrigerated trailer by hand, the district commander reported. The result was a mile-long traffic jam towards Vösendorf.
The fire service was eventually brought under control quickly. The chocolate bars were discarded for disposal.
