The residents of the Strobler district of Gschwendt in Salzburg are plagued by a gravel pit. They fear an expansion of activities instead of an end to dismantling. But the municipality’s jurisdiction is likely limited.
Neighbors on Schulstrasse in Strobl are angry. The residents of the Gschwendt district and the immediately adjacent Abersee have been suffering from the adjacent gravel quarry for years. “I have lived here for over 40 years, I was born and raised here,” says Markus Grill and continues: “The gravel pit has always been there. Dozens of trucks drive on this narrow road. The well has been exhausted so far and we hoped that this would end soon. We don’t want the dirt, the noise and the dust anymore.”
