The noticeable earthquake was felt at 3:15 am in the Lech area of Vorarlberg. According to Geosphere Austria (Austrian Seismological Service), the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.1.
Clearly noticeable
It was partly clearly noticed within a radius of about 15 kilometers. Damage to buildings is not expected in an earthquake of this magnitude, the earthquake service said.
Rare event
Damaging earthquakes are rare in Vorarlberg. According to experts, earthquakes are felt in the region three to four times a year. An earthquake only occurs here once every 30 years, causing minor damage to buildings. The strongest earthquakes were recorded at Lech in 1996 (magnitude 4.3) and at Dalaas in 1965 (magnitude 4.0).
