Only in May did an incident at a primary school in Klagenfurt cause a stir. As reported, a teacher was suspended after pushing a first-grade student out of his seat. Despite her unacceptable behavior, students and parents defended the teacher – they could understand that she had lost her nerve. Especially because the management ignored countless complaints about the boy in advance.
Boy with a migrant background attacked the teacher
Last week there was another shocking incident at a primary school in Carinthia – and again in one of the first classes. This time, however, with painful consequences for the teacher involved. A six-year-old boy with a migrant background hit her several times and injured her face. Apparently so serious that the victim did not show up for work, at least on Monday, as the “Krone” confirmed.
“The student allegedly attacked the teacher for no reason and used massive violence against the teacher. Then the boy also attacked a classmate. Fortunately, she was unharmed and was picked up by her mother after the alert police arrived,” reports Isabella Penz, education director of Carinthia.
Call a helper conference
“The six-year-old, who has a difficult family background, has been suspended until after the end of the autumn holidays. Then we’ll see what happens next – a so-called helpers’ conference has been called. In such cases, and unfortunately they occur again and again, there are clear rules and procedures,” concludes Penz.
