On Friday afternoon, a 19-year-old Styrian raced through the Wies area at no less than 124 km/h. He also initially runs from the police. The logical consequence: his car was seized.
The 19-year-old from the Murtal district obviously only has a probationary driver’s license, but that didn’t stop him from racing around the Wies area in southwestern Styria on Friday around 4:30 p.m. Police officers were able to measure him at a speed of 124 km/h! He had also overtaken another car shortly before.
The police officers tried to stop the young driver: he braked briefly, but then continued his journey. The officers gave chase – a kilometer later they found the car in a parking lot.
The 19-year-old’s alcohol test was negative. However, his driver’s license was confiscated on the spot. By order of the Deutschlandsberg district council, his car was temporarily seized and taken away by a towing company. The steering wheel is displayed.
Cars can even be auctioned
Since March 1, cars in Austria can be seized if they exceed the speed limit. So far this has happened more than 130 times. There are now also the first cases where cars are even being auctioned.
