After the tragic accident on Tuesday at Schönbrunn U4 station in Vienna, one of the four young people in hospital has now died. The 18-year-old’s life is still in danger.
AUVA confirmed this to ORF Vienna on Saturday. The four young people crashed into a pedestrian bridge on Tuesday afternoon during an illegal ride on the roof of the U4.
Hit his head on the walkway
Two boys from the Czech Republic, aged 17 and 18, hit their heads on the pedestrian bridge at the entrance to Schönbrunn station. Around 50 km/h. The emergency services even had to perform CPR on the spot.
Two other teenagers were slightly injured
A 16-year-old and a 13-year-old from Austria also took part. The 16-year-old ‘surfer’ escaped with minor injuries, but the youngest was apparently unhurt. The metro driver received crisis psychological care.
The shocking thing about it: apparently the young people risked their lives for a video on the internet.
Wiener Linien warns urgently
In this context, the Wiener Linien also points out that such actions and tests of courage are always accompanied by danger to life: “We urge you to refrain from such reckless and life-threatening actions. Not a single TikTok video, dare or selfie in the world is worth getting on a subway or tram and risking your life. Anyone who notices a dangerous situation must immediately activate the emergency call systems in the vehicles or on the platform.”
