Italian police have arrested two people, a man and a woman, on charges of international terrorism. These are two people of Kosovar descent who were born in Italy and were recently radicalized. The investigations were conducted by the Public Prosecution Service of the city of Rovereto in Trentino.
The arrests took place on June 15, the Roman daily “La Repubblica” reported Friday. The two individuals are currently under house arrest. The prosecutor suspects that they were trained to commit acts of violence and planned an explosive attack in the name of “Islamic State” (IS).
Wanted to join “Islamic State”.
According to investigators, the two suspects wanted to travel to Africa after an attack in Italy to join the “Islamic State”. In addition to the arrests, several searches were carried out, leading to the seizure of computers and chemical products – raw materials for the manufacture of explosives.
