Women across the country are victims of violence every day. In 2024, 27 women died in Austria. Violence in the home is still ubiquitous. The campaign days “16 Days against Violence against Women” will therefore take place between November 15 and December 10. During this period, several campaigns will take place to raise awareness of the problem and support those affected.
More and more offers
Although more and more awareness work is being done in this area and more and more offers are coming from different institutions, women who find themselves in such an emergency do not always know which office to turn to in case of emergency.
Stand together against violence against women
The regional leader of the ÖVP women and women’s spokesperson Julia Schneider-Wagentristl in Burgenland has therefore launched an initiative together with the department store chain “Nah & Frisch” as part of this year’s action days. The telephone number of the women’s helpline is printed on all “Nah & Frisch” vouchers throughout Austria. “This measure is intended to increase awareness and draw attention to quick, accessible assistance via the helpline in emergency situations,” says Schneider-Wagentristl.
Many girls and women are still affected by violence. “We must act together against this violence, because protecting those affected concerns us all. “Every girl and every woman has the right to live in safety,” the women’s representative emphasizes.
