Drivers who illegally use the customer parking lot of Bakkerij Szign will receive a reminder of 350 euros from their lawyer. For example, company boss Stefan Szihn defends himself against brazen parkers who do not shop in his store. So the kebab from across the street quickly becomes expensive.
Mr. S. (name known to the editors) wanted to quickly get a kebab and parked his car across the street in the customer parking lot of the Szign bakery. Very practical, because the shop and coffee house has nine customer parking spaces, which are often empty.
The rude awakening came a month later when a letter from a lawyer arrived at his home demanding a payment of 350 euros. If Mr. S. had stayed a few minutes longer, he would also have been charged additional costs for the towing service (see fax).
Mrs. B. thought the same. She is annoyed because she even went shopping at Szihn beforehand and went shopping shortly afterwards. “I used to be a regular customer, but I definitely won’t be going there from now on.”
Mrs. N., who also came to kiss hands, says: “I’ve been to the bakery before, but I’m sure I won’t go there again.” She realizes that it was not right to use the parking lot for a short visit to the kebab house opposite, but: “350 euros for ten minutes of parking is a lot of money”. She didn’t know that you weren’t allowed to park at the bakery if you weren’t a customer.
Company boss: “Cars often stood still for hours and nights”
Company boss Stefan Szihn defends himself against these accusations and the repeated blocking of parking spaces by external users. “Unfortunately, our customer parking lot was often used by people visiting neighboring restaurants or doing other errands.” This meant that there was often no space available for his customers.
“It was only the acquisition of these nine parking spaces that made it possible for us to build a business here,” says Szihn. There were cases when cars were parked for hours and whole days without anything being purchased from his store. “I would like to emphasize that we are not interested in fines, but in keeping the parking lot free for our customers. As a traditional bakery and local supplier, we have absolutely nothing against our customers combining their groceries with us with other groceries in the area.”
And: “We understand the dissatisfaction that such measures can cause and take all feedback seriously. If anyone feels that there has been a misunderstanding, he or she can always contact us.”
