No right to buy? – Allotment process: only an isolated case for the city

Date:

The case of a student who wanted to buy grandma’s allotment garden in Vienna is now spreading widely. This is how the city responds.

Obtaining an allotment in Vienna requires a lot of patience. The demand is very high. Waiting times of 18 years or longer are no exception. Then there are SPÖ parliamentarians who even own two allotments and do not even have a guilty conscience.

The case of a student who took over the lease of an allotment garden in the Danube city from her grandmother in 2020 has now become known. She has wanted to buy the Grünidyll since 2021, but the city is preventing her from doing so – as we reported. The case has already been heard by several courts and the Vienna Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the young woman. The city has now filed an appeal and is now going all the way to the Supreme Court. So the assignment crime thriller continues.
