Because the brake on the electricity price will disappear and both the electricity tax and the subsidy contribution for renewable energy will rise again to their previous levels, Austrian households will have to deal with higher electricity costs in the coming year.
“For a sample household with an annual consumption of 2,900 kWh of electricity and an electricity price of 15 cents/kWh (kilowatt hour), an annual net additional amount of 334 euros in Upper Austria or net 318 euros in Linz would arise,” the Chamber of Labor calculated on Thursday. (AK).
“Don’t ignore excessive winning”
“It is high time that the outgoing federal government finally takes measures to sustainably reduce energy prices and ease the burden on consumers. The excess profits achieved by the energy suppliers should not be ignored,” Andreas Stangl, chairman of the AK Upper Austria, said on Thursday.
Stangl demands that no further surcharges should be levied for network expansion and that the electricity tax remains at a reduced level. The contribution to the renewable subsidy should still not be collected and the fixed rate for the renewable subsidy should remain at zero.
