In addition to the rising corona numbers, plans for a fourth corona vaccination are now gaining momentum. In any case, the city of Vienna wants to greatly simplify access.
The federal government finally abolished mandatory vaccination this week, but the virus won’t allow us a summer vacation. While the National Vaccination Commission is still considering lowering the recommended age for the fourth suture from the current 80 to 65, the city of Vienna is pushing ahead again.
Hacker: “Put vaccination back in the picture”
Because now all people of twelve years or older, whose basic vaccination was six months ago, can receive a booster vaccination, the fourth stitch, in all municipal vaccination centers. “Many have lost sight of vaccination. We want to bring it back to the fore. In this way we can all contribute to get through the wave of contamination in the summer as healthy as possible and to enter the autumn well prepared,” says alderman for Public Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) against the “Krone”.
But to get to the fourth shot first, basic vaccination is currently the top priority, according to Hacker’s office. As is known, this is only complete after three vaccinations. Currently, only 1.2 percent of Viennese or about 22,000 people have taken the refresher course.
One of them was “rock professor” Rudi Dolezal (64). He was vaccinated at the Danube Island Festival. “I want to stay well protected against a difficult course,” said Dolezal. A booster vaccination is not currently planned for people under the age of twelve.
