Cat in danger – animal abuser shot back leg of “tiger” amputated

Date:

An unknown person fired a small-caliber rifle at a domestic cat in Güssing (Burgenland), seriously injuring its fur nose. Only surgery can save the four-legged friend’s life.

Fright for Maria Kulovits in Güssing: a cat hater apparently shot her cat “Tiger” with a small-caliber rifle, seriously injuring her. Kulovits had let the cat out of the house on Monday, like every day, to give it some exercise. When the four-legged friend did not return after two hours, the owner became worried and searched the area – but without results.

Bone was shattered
It wasn’t until late at night that she heard a pitiful meow. When she looked, she saw ‘Tiger’, who was clearly seriously injured. An examination by veterinarian Klaus Fischl in Königsdorf brought sad certainty: someone had shot the fur nose. The bone of the left hind leg was completely shattered. “We had to amputate the hind leg, otherwise the cat would have died,” says the vet. The operation took an hour. The projectile that was still between the legs was also removed.

“Completely incomprehensible”
Kulovits has now reported the animal abuse to the police. “It is completely incomprehensible to me how someone could do something so horrible and shoot a defenseless animal,” she said.
