A 42-year-old resident was seriously injured on Sunday while working with hay in the Tyrolean Sellrain (Innsbruck-Land district). The man got stuck under a harvestman when it overturned. His relatives responded with presence of mind.
The 42-year-old was driving down a 35-degree steep meadow around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday when the tractor tipped sideways into a slight incline. As a result, the driver became trapped between the cab and the field. His relatives, who also worked in the field, raised the alarm at the control room. Then they ran to a nearby farm. From there they fetched shovels and picks, with which they dug a pit to relieve the pressure on the captive man.
Flown to hospital with serious injuries
The fire brigades Sellrain, Gries im Sellrain and Zirl came to secure the harvestman with straps. They were then able to pull the 42-year-old from under the vehicle. The man suffered serious injuries and had to be treated by an ambulance at the scene. The helicopter then flew him to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen clinic.
