Around 10:30 am on Sunday, a 64-year-old local man was driving his car on the private road in Alpbach towards Bischoferalm. About 50 meters from the mountain meadow, the driver stopped to reverse into an area and put on snow chains.
The vehicle started to slide
While reversing, the vehicle skidded on the sloping, snow-covered road. Shortly before sliding over the edge of the road, the driver jumped from the vehicle.
The car then fell over an approximately 70 percent steep embankment, rolled over and was stopped by trees after about 20 meters. The driver was uninjured and the car was probably a total loss.
