When the fire brigades from Seekirchen and Eugendorf arrived at the fire on Moosstrasse (Salzburg) at 4 a.m., a garage and several cars were already completely on fire. Only Floriani’s quick action could prevent an attack on the adjacent apartment complex. There was also a fire in Kuchl.
The fire brigade fought the fire with water from six pipes. “Because of the number of people on duty, we are talking about a major fire here,” says operations manager Thomas Neuhofer.
Attack prevented
According to the future local fire chief of Seekirchen, the first measure was to prevent the fire from spreading to the apartment building. Once this was secured, the Floriani fought the burning cars and the full fire in the attached garage.
The quick intervention meant that no one was in danger. Neuhofer says: “The people were safe in the stairwell because we were able to prevent the attack. They were cared for by the Red Cross.” The living areas were secured and smoke extraction began.
No injuries
A total of 70 men from the fire brigades of Seekirchen and Eugendorf and fire engines from neighboring districts were present. No one was injured. The material damage cannot yet be quantified. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
Kitchen burned in Kuchl
Also on Saturday, the Kuchl fire brigade was alerted to a house fire in an apartment building in the Markt district. “When emergency services arrived, heavy smoke was already visible from outside. The residents of the house were evacuated within a very short time and the respiratory protection teams were able to start fighting the fire in the kitchen,” the Kuchl fire brigade describes their operation.
This was followed by extinguishing and clean-up work. The entire residential building was ventilated and then released to the other residents. There were also 70 firefighters present in Kuchl. Fortunately, no one was injured.
