L391 was closed – boulders fell on a house and oil leaked

Date:

According to the police, a stone fell in Biberwier on Saturday at 6:50 p.m. The stone, which measures half a meter by half a meter, probably fell on a house and hit an oil tank, which then leaked. The road therefore had to be closed.

On Saturday, the emergency services had to respond to Biberwier around 6:50 p.m. There was a rockfall there. A boulder measuring 0.5 x 0.5 meters came loose from a slope above a residential building. As it fell, the piece crashed through several tree trunks and flew over a security fence.

Christoph Bader, fire chief from Biberwier had to call for reinforcements along the way: “On the way there, we were told from the control center that something serious had probably happened. We then alerted the Ehrwald fire brigade via the turntable ladder to get a better overview.”

He then fell through the roof of an adjacent room in a residential building. An oil tank was damaged. About ten liters came out. The Biberwier volunteer fire brigade was able to bind the oil and pump the remaining oil from the tank. “The oil leak itself was not too serious as the tank was only damaged in the top third. The leakage was minimal, but to be on the safe side we also removed the rest,” says Bader.

Ehrwalder Straße was closed to all traffic during the cleaning work in this area. Fortunately, no one was injured. The fire brigades from Ehrwald and Biberwier were present with six vehicles and more than thirty Florianis. On Sunday morning, a state geologist was given an overview of the site and the demolition site.
