The relatives of a dementia patient had been hoping for a Christmas miracle in recent days, but since Sunday there has been tragic certainty: the 76-year-old, who had been missing since Thursday, was found dead in Leonding (Upper Austria). The patient had disappeared from the emergency room of the Kepler University Hospital in Linz.
On Sunday afternoon, after a large-scale, multi-day search by numerous emergency workers, he was found dead in Leonding – about seven kilometers from the place of disappearance.
It was previously known that the man’s e-card had been found in a forest. According to reports, the Linzer’s body was also found there.
Drones and search dogs in use
Further details were not yet known. The man was taken to the emergency room on Thursday after a medical incident. An intensive search was conducted, especially because of the freezing temperatures. Several fire brigades, including drones and sniffer dogs, were still in action on Sunday.
