Dramatic scenes on Christmas Day in a house in Andorf (Upper Austria). A woman had put coal briquettes in the boiler room. When she went to look again a moment later, she was caught in a flash of flames and was injured. Nevertheless, she was still able to save her three children.
According to her own information, a 34-year-old from Andorf added coal briquettes to the solid fuel boiler on the ground floor at around 9:40 PM on December 25, 2024. She then left the boiler room again and was busy cleaning up until about 10:15 p.m. The woman then wanted to check the boiler room again.
Mother went up in flames
When she opened the boiler room door, it immediately exploded, engulfing the 34-year-old in a flash of flame. She immediately ran to the top floor of the building, brought out her children, ages 4, 8 and 9, and ran with them to their neighbors. They informed the fire brigade. When FF Andorf and Schulleredt arrived, the boiler room of the building was already completely on fire.
The fire brigade prevented anything worse from happening
By taking quick action, the fire brigade was able to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the house. The 34-year-old was injured to an unknown extent and was taken to Ried Hospital after first aid from the emergency doctor.
