The Carinthian police were concerned about two traffic accidents caused by drunk driving during the holidays. Both drivers lost their driver’s license.
On the evening of Christmas Day – shortly before 9 p.m. – a 36-year-old from Villach was driving his vehicle on the Mühlenweg towards St. Martin in Villach when he suddenly lost control of his car on a right bend in the cemetery area. : “From For unknown reasons, he left his own lane and collided with oncoming traffic. “A collision occurred with an oncoming car,” police said.
Driver’s license taken away
In this car was a family of four from Villach, who were injured to an unspecified extent as a result of the collision and were therefore taken to the Villach LKH by ambulance. The 36-year-old stated that he was not injured – although an alcohol test showed that he was moderately drunk: “His driver’s license was confiscated on the spot!”
A novice driver (17) drove drunk into a tree
Just a few hours later – around 2 a.m. on Thursday – another accident occurred in the Draustadt. Another man from Villach (17) came off the road at a bend on Oswaldibergstrasse: “He left the road to the left and hit a tree,” officials said.
The emergency services were informed by email. Although the novice driver and his 16-year-old passenger were not injured in the accident, the 17-year-old lost his driver’s license: “An alcohol test on the 17-year-old driver revealed serious intoxication.”
