Suffering from leukemia – media reports: Assad’s wife is dying

Date:

The Syrian dictator family Assad escaped the advancing rebels in time and fled to Moscow. But first lady Asma Assad is now apparently fighting for her life.

According to reports in the British media, the health of the 49-year-old, who suffers from leukemia, has deteriorated dramatically in recent weeks. According to reports, Asma Assad was already in Moscow, receiving treatment, before her husband fled Syria.

“Asma is dying”
However, various media now write that the doctors treating her estimate the former first lady’s chances of survival at approximately 50 percent. She is currently in an isolation ward, so that the risk of contamination with other pathogens is kept as low as possible. “Asma is dying,” an unnamed person who had communicated directly with a family representative in recent weeks was quoted by the British daily Telegraph.

Former first lady ‘not welcome’ in Britain
Asma Assad’s father, a renowned cardiologist in Britain, has apparently been taking intensive care of his daughter – and has been doing so for weeks. But now the 49-year-old apparently wants to return to London, where she grew up and studied. Turkish and Arab media have also reported about this in recent days.

The British Foreign Secretary has already made it clear that Asma Assad is not welcome. Sanctions are also in force against them. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: “It is too early to say whether her dual nationality British passport could be stripped.”
