An 85-year-old who had been missing in Vöcklabruck since Friday was found dead on Monday. The slim man suffering from dementia probably left the path during his daily walk in the woods, fell into the impassable terrain and then froze to death, police said in the evening. The body was discovered during a hunt.
The man was brought home by relatives on December 25. When his sons could not reach him in the following days, they reported him missing. A large-scale search involving around 120 people and the rescue dog brigade was unsuccessful. Drones with thermal imaging cameras were also unsuccessful.
Lost while walking
On Monday, the pensioner’s body was finally discovered during a hunt in the Pfarrerwald in Vöcklabruck. It was on rough and rolling terrain.
The police assume that the 85-year-old lost his way while walking. In the end he probably fell and then froze to death. There are no indications of foul play.
