A fatal traffic accident took place in Styria on New Year’s Eve. According to a police statement, a 25-year-old driver overlooked a zebra crossing on Wechselstraat (LB54) in the Weiz district on Tuesday. The resulting impact was so strong that the 79-year-old man died at the scene of the accident.
Around 6 p.m. the driver drove from Gleisdorf towards Pischelsdorf. At the same time, the accident victim from the Weiz district crossed the road in the area of a blind bend.
The breath test was negative
According to current findings, the 25-year-old may have overlooked the man. Despite immediate first aid measures and the deployment of numerous Red Cross emergency services, an emergency doctor and an emergency helicopter, the man succumbed to his serious injuries on the spot. The driver’s breath test was negative.
