Great excitement in the Vorarlberg municipality of Riefensberg. Three sheep were brutally attacked there. One animal died, two survived with serious injuries. Who or what was responsible for the bloody attack still seems unclear. Both animal abuse and a wild animal do not seem to be excluded.
Sabine Dorn saw a terrible sight when, warned by a neighbor, she rushed to the pasture where her dwarf sheep were on Sunday morning. Two animals had their ears cut off and a third had facial cuts. The sheep “Lucy” had already died, and it is unclear whether a second one – “Wölkchen” – will survive.
The police are puzzled
While the owner assumes that it is a horrific case of animal abuse, the Vorarlberg police are investigating in all directions, according to ORF information, after the official veterinarian did not want to rule out an attack by another animal. DNA samples are currently being examined and Hittisau police are asking for information on +43 59133 8126 100.
